.arw

Sony Alpha RAW

Handled by macOS itself

Format facts

MIME type: image/x-sony-arw
Apple UTI: com.sony.arw-raw-image
Stock Quick Look: macOS renders a preview
Planned approach (census): native-sufficient
Icon hint: thumbnail-only
Prevalence: common

Renderer note (from the census)

macOS ImageIO renders camera RAW natively (dng precedent)

Gotchas: macOS handles some, pure Go TIFF/RAW is hard
